This week parents will have a number of opportunities to participate in activities at school. There are field trips as well as the "back to school" nights and a fundraiser for the music department. Tuesday and Wednesday parents have the opportunity to follow their students' daily schedules. Since the program mimics the student's day, it is important to be there for the entire time. It is especially important as we move more to digital delivery of information regarding news home, schedules, and grades. If you haven't signed into the parent portal, google classroom, or the teacher method of sharing information, this will be an opportunity to find out how. Kindergarten through fifth grade parents should come Tuesday evening and middle school parents should come Wednesday. Parking will be available in the front lot, the car lane and in the field. Please come!
There are several field trips this week which fit well into our curriculum. Monday the kindergarten and first grade students will have a unique opportunity to interact with the characters from Sesame Street. Then on Tuesday, the third, fourth, and fifth graders will travel to the Van Wezel for the annual Children's Concert performed by the Sarasota Orchestra. Thursday, the fifth and sixth graders will go to Myakka State Park. for an interactive program on the ecology of the park with emphasis on the wildlife. This trip is part of an EdExplore program and will tie the science to reading with the novel The Missing Gator of Gumbo Limbo. The students will take part in a native plant walk, alligator game, and water sampling activity.
Other events include the kindergarten class having their annual hearing screening on Thursday and the music department having their first fundraiser Saturday at .Applebees. The pancake breakfast runs from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Applebees on Fruitville Road. Tickets are $10.00 per person and can be bought from any music student or at the Back to School Night event. Please check for more information on the website.
Looking forward - the fall music performances start the week of Oct. 10. You can find more information in the letters Ms. Julie sends home and in the music section of the website. The October meeting of the Governing Board will be Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 8:00 AM.
Have a wonderful week. See you either Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
