This was a busy weekend finishing off a busy week. We had quite a good turn out for the PTO SkyZone event Tuesday night. Thank you to all who came out and to the PTO for arranging the event. PTO will be sponsoring one more Skate NIght later in the school year.
Ms. Julie reported that the SAA "High Voltage" chorus gave a vey successful performance before a large crowd Friday evening at the county fair. They performed some of the numbers from 42nd Street which is promising to be a great show. Don't forget that ads and sponsorships are due Wednesday, tickets for 42nd Street go on sale through the Sarasota Opera House ticket office Wednesday, and all t-shirt/hoodie orders are due Friday for all K-MS shows. You can continue to send ticket orders for grades K-5 to the office.
Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the Orioles vs.Twins game as the winners of the Attendance Counts poster contest were honored guests. Thanks, Parker and Tanner (and families), for representing SAA.
The Career Day event for the middle school was a wonderful experience. Thirteen people visited Thursday and seven on Friday to talk to the students about their careers. Thank you to Ms. Farmer who put this together and to all of the visitors, especially the parents of our own students. We had such very interesting careers represented. It was especially gratifying to me to hear how well-behaved and respectful the students were and the high quality of questions that were asked.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week the third graders will be completing the third grade FSA reading assessment. Students should be on time as we start at 8:10 AM. Students arriving late cannot be admitted to the test. If you did not receive the email regarding the test, please call the office and I'll send it home attached to the newsletter.
