It looks like the construction on the new classrooms is winding down. The sidewalks will be poured Tuesday and interior will hopefully be completed by Friday afternoon. Then we can take possession as soon as the final inspections are done. We would like to have some parents help with putting together the tables and shelving for the rooms as well as hanging the white boards if you can volunteer. Tentatively this will be next Saturday. But I can't let you know definitely until I have the okay from the contractor. Kelly Marsh will post it on the volunteer sign-up as soon as I know.
If you would like to volunteer for the School Advisory Committee (SAC), we would love to have you. The SAC looks at where we are academically and as a community and tries to find ways of improving SAA. The members also help to write the School Improvement Plan each fall. The committee would like to have more parent input as to how we can make SAA the best school for our students and families. Meetings are once a month after school. Please send me an email or call if you would like to be involved.
SAA, as a public charter school, follows the Sarasota County Reading Plan and the Florida Standards as a basis for our curriculum. We are continuously working to develop our curriculum maps and grading policies to reflect these and our own mission statement based on the infusion of the arts into all subject areas. If you have questions about any of these, please read the information on teacher websites and be sure to attend the Back-to-School nights coming up in the last week of September. The information that was to be shared on the canceled technology nights will be incorporated into these nights.
There is a wealth of information available at the SAA website. I encourage you to check it out. You can find information on the music and visual arts programs, on the sports, on family events, and on the teacher websites. Also be sure and check out the Parent's Corner Page. There is a place to volunteer for special events or in classrooms. You can even respond to my letter with questions or concerns.
Watch for information on the "origami' assembly, picture day, WCTDYWB (try to guess that one!), and family events.
Have a wonderful week!
