There are quite a few activities and events coming up between now and winter break, so please keep checking the calendar and the attachment to this email letter. Last week the middle schoolers had their "Harvest Dance".It was a pleasure to chaperon - we do have a great group of students in the middle school. We tried to do the hearing tests, but the equipment was not working so we will reschedule it. Report cards were available Friday through the parent portal for kindergarten and first grades with more added as they are reviewed. The hard copies will be sent home around the 13th.
This week there will be the health screenings for kindergarten first, third, and sixth grade as required by the state for all students in these grades plus any new to the state of Florida. Height and weight, vision, and screening for scoliosis (6th grade only) will be carried out by health department nurses. (Next week are the flu shots for those who have returned the permission forms.)
Please save the date for December 8 for the parent information night on internet safety. In response to parent requests, Lt. Enos will speak to parents about a variety of topics relating to internet safety and digital citizenship. As children younger and younger have access to digital sites through tablets, iPods, cell phones, etc., the need for awareness is even more important. Please come out; I am sure it will be worth your time.
Some of the middle schoolers will be going to see Westside Story Tuesday evening. Please be sure permission slips and money are turned in. If students have misplaced the information sheets, please contact Mrs. McHugh with questions.
The SAC committee will meet Wednesday at 4:15 PM in the administration building. You are welcome to attend. The main topic of discussion will be the School Improvement Plan.M
Mr. Matt and I will be in Orlando Tuesday through Thursday for the annual charter school convention. Please contact Dr. Owens if you have questions or concerns. For fourth and fifth graders, Ms. Confer will be out one more week. Ms. Artman will continue to substitute for her.
