I had the opportunity to spend the last three days at a leadership conference with district and building administrators from all parts of North America and the Pacific Islands. It was truly an uplifting and invigorating weekend. I look forward to sharing what I learned with our teachers and students, but I'll be glad to be back at SAA tomorrow.
I hope you are making plans to attend the Literacy Night next Tuesday, Nov. 11. The Literacy Team is putting together an evening of food and discussion that should benefit students, parents, and teachers. It is so important that our students are reading every chance they get - at least 20 minutes per day outside of class. Research shows that reading on the correct level increases achievement in every subject. We hope you and your children will join us for an evening where parents can learn and share with us and each other. A flyer is attached and more information will be coming home.
This is a busy week - field trips (2nd, 3rd, and 5th), benchmark tests in math for 1st through 8th grades, and the Fall Festival on Friday. The first day that report cards will be delivered to the school is Thursday. We will send them home as soon as we can. You can still go online through the parent portal to see your child's grades. The report cards have changed for the elementary students so you may not see a "real" letter grade in all subject areas. If you have questions after you receive the report card, please call us.
Have a great week!
