This is a busy week for students. There is more detailed information on the calendar page; please check it out. We will be doing some benchmark testing in math and science. These assessments do not count for a grade but will give us information on whether students are progressing as they should in each subject area. They are not long and do not require extra studying at home. They are, however, good indicators of where both the teachers and students might have missed some needed information or skills practice.
I have received several letters lately about the difficulty parents are facing with trying to assist their children with homework, particularly in math. We are trying to find a date for a "math lab" night to help with this. I will let you know as soon as I can set the date.
The following events need special mention...The Governing Board meets Monday, November 2, in the front art room at 8:10 am. You are welcome to attend and the agenda is posted on the website. Tuesday is the hearing test for kindergartners and 1st graders and the first basketball game. This week the 7th and 8th graders will go to the Van Wezel for a production related to their social studies classes (Civics and US History). This is part of their curriculum and students are expected to attend. If cost is a concern, please call me. Students who do not attend will have an alternate assignment. Friday is the middle school Harvest Dance. Students have received information about this event. Saturday is the golf tournament.
Have a wonderful week.
