I want to use this space this week to get a head start on the things I am thankful for since Thanksgiving is coming up soon!
First of all, I am thankful for our students. We currently have 208 students, with 116 in grades K through 5 and 92 in middle school. There are very few discipline problems, for which I am very grateful! The seventh graders attended a program at the Van Wezel on Friday, after which the teachers praised them for their exemplary behavior. Most of the middle schoolers attended the dance Friday night and, again, their behavior and enthusiasm were outstanding. Mrs. Julie constantly receives compliments about the manners and respect the students show when they perform at the area retirement centers and assisted living facilities. So, thank you to our students!
Secondly, I am thankful for the parents who entrust their children to us. We all love it when you are involved in your child's education, whether it is attending programs, helping out in the office, the costume house, the library, the classroom, chaperoning field trips, driving to basketball games, and even getting your child to school on time and making them read nightly! A special thanks to Kelly Marsh, parent, Board Member, and parent liaison for all the many things she does. Thank you to the parents who are involved in PTO, SAC, and school committees. We couldn't do it without you!
The third group for which I am thankful is the SAA staff. This week, I want to especially recognize our Literacy Team who organized the program last Tuesday: Ms. Graddy, Ms. LaRose, Ms. Figel, Ms. Howard, and Mr. Kolowith. Also helping out were Ms. Diaz, Ms. Tirotta, Ms. Bryan, Mr. Pascuzzi, Mr. Matt, and Mrs. Julie. With the complete integration of the new Florida Standards and our particular emphasis on math, all of the teachers have been involved in taking classes and participating in professional development to help them become the best teachers your children can have. They do stay busy!
Check the calendar for upcoming events. We don't want you to miss anything!
Have a great week!
