Congratulations to the middle schoolers who performed in Anything Goes this past Friday. They showed off their talents before both an afternoon audience and a full house in the evening. Mrs. Julie did a fabulous job directing the students with many hours going into rehearsals, costuming and more rehearsals. She would like to especially thank Vanessa Russo who choreographed the show and directed the students in their dance numbers. According to Mrs. Julie, "In a show like this one, dance is tremendously important and without her, the show could never have been what it turned out to be!" We both want to thank the backstage crew, especially the middle school teachers who supervised the students, making sure they were in the right costumes and on the stage at the right time. I couldn't have managed without Mr. Koci on the rails, bringing the curtains in and out, or Mr. Goldman on the spot lights with his two able assistants, 8th graders Kenji and Nick, and Mrs. LaRose taking care of the microphones. From Mrs. Julie: "Bryan Egan handled all the props and sets assisted by Zach Herman, Lauren Nielsen moved the students off and on stage and we were fortunate to have the best of the Player's team of Seth, Alyssa, and Ken running lights, sound, and tech. Mark Noble designed the lighting that made our kids look so beautiful. Countless parents and grandparents did sewing alterations, painting of props and sets, and building of sets and assisted with rehearsals, make up, hair, and errands. It was truly a group effort and for that I am extremely grateful! Great job everyone!"
This week the second and sixth graders have their awards ceremonies today at 8:00 and 12:30 respectively. The seventh graders are on a trip to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. Tomorrow is graduation for the 8th graders with the advanced chorus performing. Starting time is 6:00 for the ceremony but graduates and choir members should arrive at 5:30. The ceremony will be followed by pizza and cake. Thursday is the awards ceremony for 7th grade; sixth and eighth will be on their trips. Then Friday we finish it off with the Luau from noon to 4:00 and the final middle school dance from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Please remember there is no after school care on Friday.
Report cards and test scores should be sent out around June 8th. We are dependent on receiving them from the district office then will mail them out. Report cards will be available on the portal after June 8th.
I'll send out another letter at the end of the week. Please know how much we appreciate your entrusting your child to us throughout this past year and look forward to next year. Congratulations to all of our eighth graders as they move on to the next phase of their education.
