I hope all of our students have had a great week off and are ready to get back into "school" for the last quarter of 2015-16.
The third quarter ends this Wednesday and teachers will begin posting grades. This time you will need to access the report card through the parent portal. The district will only print report cards for those who have not signed up for the parent portal. If you need help or don't have access to the internet, please call the office and we will try to help you. Once you have viewed the report card online, you will be able to print a hard copy if you wish.
This is the final week for review for the third graders as their FSAs in Reading and Math are NEXT week. Students should be practicing still on the FSA practice tests at www.fsassessments.org and through i-Ready. The fourth graders will only have the FSA math next week. All parents of third and fourth graders should have received letters (through the mail) regarding the tests and security surrounding them.
The eighth graders will travel to the Florida Holocaust Museum tomorrow to extend their studies of the Holocaust. On Tuesday they will have a speaker visit in the classroom.
Reminders from the music department...Tomorrow is the "reaudition" day for those students who have been asked to do so. There will be another fundraiser for transportation to and from the spring shows all day on Wednesday at Bob Evans on Fruitville. Flyers will go home in the packets tomorrow. You will also receive order forms for the commemorative shirts or the spring shows.
Ms. Owens has asked that I remind everyone of the dress code. As the weather warms, we seem to have more students wearing clothing that is not appropriate for school. As quoted from the SAA Student/Parent Handbook: "Students are expected to dress appropriately at all times. The following attire is permitted: walking shorts (that means at least fingertip length), jeans in good repair (no holes or rips above the knees), t-shirts with appropriate slogans, neat and clean clothing." (parentheses mine) Shirts or dresses with straps less than one inch wide or low-cut necklines are not permitted.
Finally, a reminder that school is closed on Friday, March 25 for a professional day for teachers. Have a great week!
