This is a very short week so it will be a short letter as well. School is in session Monday and Tuesday. We have had a number of questions about this week because Manatee County is closed the whole week. Sorry, but Sarasota County schools are open.
Last Thursday, Mr. Kolowith's second graders invited their parents and other family members to have lunch with them to celebrate Thanksgiving. Mr. Kolowith reported there were 61 people enjoying the lunch. His class had prepared a video and shared their reasons for being thankful though their Thanksgiving tree. All the leaves prepared by the students remind us we have so much for which to be thankful. Although we had to extend the lunch period by half hour to be sure everyone was served, a number of teachers asked if we could expand the event to include more classes next year. It was great to see how many came to school to share this time with their children so we will certainly think about ways we could expand next year.
I hope you will take some time to reflect on the many things for which we can be thankful. I am particularly thankful for the families and students who are a part of the larger SAA family. I am also thankful to have teachers and staff members who truly care about the students and want them to succeed, not only in academics but in life. It is always gratifying to hear of former students and their successes.
This Tuesday is the second skate night for our SAA families. Please check out the flyer for particulars. Also, please check the school calendar as students will be busy with concerts, field trips, and exams between now and the winter holidays. We don't want anyone to miss anything.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Thank you for entrusting your children to us.
