Tomorrow (Monday) is Play Picture Day. All students taking part in the spring musical performances will have their pictures taken in costume at different times during the day. Please be sure everyone has read the letters Mrs. Julie sent home and everyone brings the needed costume pieces to school. An email was sent home requesting parent help during the day with costumes. If you can help, it will be most appreciated.
In other music-related news, the auditions for the first annual Talent Show will be held during music classes on Monday, February 29. Saturday, March 5 there will be an Applebee's Pancake Breakfast to raise funds for transportation for all students to rehearsals for the spring musicals.
Progress reports will be available this week for middle school students through the parent portal. Paper copies will be sent home for students in the elementary grades. We are concerned about the number of absentees, tardies and early dismissals and how these affect student learning. Often grades are lower than expected because students do not complete assignments. Even though students may be given make-up work to complete, they miss valuable instruction by not being present for class presentations and discussions. Please make every effort to have your child in school for a complete day.
Tuesday, March 1, will be the Writing Assessment for 4th through 7th graders. A letter concerning the testing was sent home last week, but I want to reiterate the importance of students being present and giving it their best effort on the assessment. The score becomes part of the Florida Assessment for English Language Arts which will be given later in the spring. The 8th graders will take the test on the computer on Wednesday, March 2.
