Fall arrives this Wednesday, but the weather doesn't seem to quite get the idea! Can you believe September is more than half over? We've been in school for four weeks already!
We had a wonderful turn-out for the "Back to School Nights" last week. Even with the deluge on Thursday, most of the K-3 families came out to hear what was going on in the classrooms. Almost all of the 4th and 5th grade families were here on Tuesday night. The teachers and staff send a big "thank you" to the parents for taking time out of busy evening schedules to visit the classrooms. The parents of the middle schoolers will have a similar opportunity on Wednesday, September 30.
The first progress reports come out this week for third through eighth grade students. The Kindergarten, first and second grade teachers are doing conferences with the parents so you will not receive a paper or digital copy of the mid-quarter report. The digital copies for middle schoolers will be available Thursday - just go into the parent portal of gradebook to see the progress report. If you have not registered for gradebook, Mrs.Kathy can help you. Directions with screen shots were sent home in the opening information packet you received at the open houses, but please do call if you are experiencing difficulty with the sign-up process. Paper copies will be available for everyone this semester but they will not be available until we receive the copies form the school district office. Third, fourth, and fifth graders will receive paper copies this week.
As you know, we have an "everyone works" policy in place. Teachers have been contacting parents via email or phone if there are missing assignments because we don't want those zeros to affect grades. If there are absences due to illness that prevent work being submitted in a timely fashion or if work just isn't being completed, we have after school times where students can catch up with the help of Ms. Owens and me. We are committed to students being successful and will support them however we can. At the same time, we want to foster a sense of responsibility in the students.
This Tuesday is the Family Fun Night. Please see the calendar for details and to buy your tickets in advance. We hope many of you can attend.
Congratulations to the girls' volleyball team. They had their first win last Thursday!
Have a wonderful week!
