I'm writing the newsletter this morning from The Embassy Suites in Orlando as our advanced chorus, "High Voltage" gets ready to perform their holiday program at Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) this afternoon. We had a lovely - but crowded and long- day in the Magic Kingdom yesterday. Thank you to all of the wonderful chaperons who have been with us this weekend. And to the parents who have driven up to watch their children perform. With the change from Downtown Disney to Disney Springs came a much higher set of performance requirements and smaller number of groups chosen. The group has a prime time to perform this year and we are counting on our students to show just how great they are! Monday night all three middle school groups will perform at Glenridge; mixed chorus is at 6:00. Girls' Chorus will perform at 6:45 and the advanced chorus at 7:30.
Last week all of the kindergarten through fifth grade choral groups displayed their talents at the Glenridge Performing Arts Theater. This week they will perform at various nursing homes and retirement centers as part of the Intergenerational Celebration. I'm sure they will spread holiday cheer to all of the residents.
This week, in addition to field trips and holiday parties, we have the algebra and geometry mid-term exams scheduled. We also have 4th through 8th graders taking the writing simulation test on Tuesday and Wednesday. The fifth graders perform Monday (please send in permission forms!); the kindergartners perform Tuesday and second and third graders go to Van Wezel; Wednesday the third and fourth graders perform, and Thursday the first and second graders perform off campus. Julie will collect costumes after the final performance for each class on these days.
Thursday night the ESOL families will have their annual family night. You should have received invitations and we hope to see you there!
I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
