We are in our next to the last week of testing... This week the 5th and 8th graders take the science assessment, 6th grade takes math, and 4th grade takes the language arts assessment. Please be at school on time as we have only a narrow window for make up testing.
Monday is the spring musical, The Jungle Book, performed by our first and second graders. They will be at the Glenridge Performing Arts Theatre during the day for a final dress rehearsal then will bring their costumes home at the end of the day. They should wear their costumes to the theater Monday evening. Students with mics should arrive by 5:00 PM; all others by 5:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased at school or at the door.
This week the PTO will have their final meeting on Thursday, May 4 at which time officers will be elected for next year. We would like to see more parents involved if schedules permit. This week is also National Charter Schools Week, sponsored by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. We formally celebrated in the last week of January during National School Choice Week, but want to join in recognizing the charter school movement in Florida where there are currently over 650 public charter schools. We are so glad that you have chosen SAA as the school for your children.
If you have time this week, go see the art exhibit at the Art Center, Sarasota. We have a number of students whose work is exhibited again this year. Students who have work in the show should have received an invitation to the receptions to be held Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Names of student exhibitors will be listed on our website. Congratulations to all the students whose work was chosen.
One of our SAA families is a finalist in a local contest for a free new roof for their home. If you'd like to help out the Johns Family, go to https://noroofleftbehind.com/program/fl/1314/nomination/8195#votingArea for more information about the program and instructions on how you can support them prior to the May 7th deadline.
Have a great week!
