We had an eventful week last week! Congratulations to Kagen Ellinwood and his parents for the film, Deaf Notice, that was presented at the Sarasota Film Festival yesterday. Kagen did a great job answering audience questions following the presentations of nine short films. Kagen, we're so glad you're a part of SAA. Thank you also to the parents and students who were there to see the film and support him.
Several families went up to the Rays game last night. We had a great time ... unless you are a Rays fan since the Yankees won 9 to 0! Austin (1st grade) and Kennedy and Avery (kindergarten) represented us well when they appeared on the "big screen" for their dancing!
Thursday night was the art show with displays by all grade levels. Mrs. Quattro, who is at a show of her own in Tallahassee this weekend, will present the winners tomorrow. Thanks to Mrs. Walter, Mrs. Quattro,Joe Quattro, and all the student artists who made this possible. We have quite a talent pool at SAA!
We successfully made it through the first week of computer-based testing. This week the 6th graders test in language arts Monday and Tuesday. 5th graders test for language arts on Tuesday and Wednesday and 8th graders test in math Wednesday and Thursday.
For this week...
Monday, the kindergartners, first, and second graders will present their musicals at the Glenridge Theater. Tickets are available in the office and at the door for $10 .00 per person. Kindergartners should arrive by 5:30 (perform at 6:00). 1st and 2nd graders should be there at the same time so parents can be seated before the kindergarten show starts at 6:00. The shows will be over by 7:30. We're looking forward to a great evening!
Wednesday is the spring book fair. Please sign up on the volunteer page of the website if you can help us. We need several more spots filled. We will set up Tuesday after school and break down Wednesday evening.
Thursday the 3rd and 4th graders will present their musical at Venetian Gardens during the school day.
Saturday we will be working on the reading garden if you can help between 9:00 and noon.
Finally, please send in your responses for the end of year trip. Remember to get your fingerprints done if you are planning to chaperone. Fifth grade parents should also send in the response for the science fair project.
I think I've remembered everything. We do stay busy!
